Black Elks Vision for the Rainbow People

A native American visionary called Black Elk foretold the coming forth of a people who would fulfill some ancient prophecies. The Hopi Nation has held to this vision for centuries.  Many books have been written about the Hopi prophecy and the Mayan calendar which predicts the world will end as we know it in 2012.

In honor of all these sacred visions, we honor the vision of Black Elk where he called all tribes and nations to gather together in peace and harmony as one people. This would honor the Great Spirit Grandfather, Father of all nations.

A gathering of Indigenous Elders was called in 1997 where the ones assembled came to consensus about holding an intentional prayer assembly at the same sacred ancient site in New Mexico until peace comes to the earth, or the new world emerges.  By inspiration last summer, Summer Breeze, a/k/a The Midnight Writer was inspired to renew these gatherings at the Four Corners with Indigenous Elders, Hopi Elders, and representatives of the tribes of the earth who would answer the call of the spirit to be there.

Summer Breeze called these gatherings "Medicine Wheel Gatherings". The purpose is to mend the sacred hoop. In Christianity, this means to heal the hearts of peoples, nations, kindreds and kings and come to gather in one heart and one mind. Basically, this is about love. This is about healing. The Medicine Wheel gatherings are about forgiveness and reconciliation of the past.  It is about joining together as one people under God, Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka, to teach the way of unconditional love and peace. The Medicine Wheel calls the nations together to dance to the beat of the drum of the heart of Creator, and become one as Creator always intended.

The first gathering of its kind took place in Oregon on September 11-23, 2007. The dates were chosen by inspiration of the holy spirit to Summer Breeze, me. Great Spirit called forth the purpose and revealed the intent in the hearts of those who attended this gathering. All who came knew that the universe made a dramatic leap into a future for which humankind has prayed and hoped for over generations.

Star alignments, lunar and solar eclipses, the birth anniversary of Elijah, all took place in this thirteen day gathering in the mountains of the Ochoco National Forest. Read about it more at this yahoo group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mountainspirit/ Membership is required but is free. We at Mountain Spirit People welcome you with open arms.

Medicine Dancer built a sweat lodge, or inipi, for the purification of our bodies and spirits. I believe it held nine ceremonies during this thirteen days. Very powerful! I hope Medicine Dancer and his Inipi join us at the Four Corners some time in early May.

Other inspirations that I (Summer Breeze, a/k/a The Midnight Writer) received about the Medicine Wheel Gatherings include a return to the Ochocos; the Rainbow Gathering in Wyoming July 1-7, 2008; a gathering for prayer at Wounded Knee in late July 2008; and Petra in 2011.

Watch for updates on all these gatherings. If you have questions, join us at Mountain Spirit People yahoo group or email mountainspirit_tribe@earthlink.net.
